Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026. This policy explains what ConvertX does with the data it touches, in plain language.
Overview
ConvertX is a free online image converter. Its core promise is simple: the images you upload are used only to produce the converted file you download, and then they are gone. This policy describes how files, browser preferences, and third-party data are handled so you can use the service with confidence.
File Handling During Conversion
When you convert an image, the file is sent from your browser to the conversion server over an encrypted connection. The server keeps the file in memory for the few seconds needed to run the conversion, then discards it. The converted result is returned to your browser and also held only in memory.
ConvertX does not store uploads on disk, does not add them to a database, and does not use them for training, analytics, or advertising. No copies of your images are kept for any purpose.
Metadata Stripping
Converted files have EXIF and other metadata stripped by default. Camera model, GPS location, timestamps, and editing history from your original file are not carried into the converted output. This is done for privacy — sharing a JPG should not quietly share where and how it was taken.
Browser Storage Used for Theme Preference
ConvertX lets you switch between light and dark themes. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device — it is never transmitted to the server. If you have not chosen a theme, the site follows your operating system's preference.
More Apps Third-Party API
The More Apps page lists companion tools fetched from a third-party directory API. The request is made by the server, and only publicly listed app names, images, and links are displayed. When you open an app link, you leave ConvertX and that website's own privacy policy applies. ConvertX only links to approved apps whose links use HTTPS.
Cookies and Analytics
ConvertX does not set tracking cookies and does not load third-party analytics scripts. The server keeps no persistent profile of your visits. Standard web server logs may record technical details such as the request time and IP address for operational and security purposes, but never image contents or filenames.
Security Measures
ConvertX applies reasonable safeguards: uploads are size-limited and validated on the server, image processing runs inside a sandboxed library with built-in safety limits, SVG files are inspected for scripts and unsafe content, request rate limits are enforced, and responses include strict security headers. No software is unhackable, but these measures follow current web security practice.
User Responsibilities
You are responsible for the files you upload. Only convert images you have the right to convert, and do not upload content that violates the law or another person's rights. Never upload files containing malicious code or scripts.
Policy Updates
If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top will change as well. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use of ConvertX after a policy update means you accept the updated policy.
